Mark Gordon’s signature, Wyoming joins 23 other states that have passed partial or total bans on gender-affirming care in recent years. Wyoming’s bill, known as Senate File 99, was approved by lawmakers in both chambers earlier this month. Under the legislation, doctors, pharmacists and other health care providers who provide gender-affirming care could have their licenses suspended or revoked. As in other states, proponents of the measure have argued that the treatments in minors are relatively new, and that the long-term effects are not well studied. “I signed SF99 because I support the protections this bill includes for children,” Mr. Gordon said in a statement.

Christopher and Roberta Laundrie denied being told by their son that he killed Petito, though Roberta Laundrie said the thought “probably went through my mind.”Petito’s family reported the 22-year-old missing on September 11, 2021, 10 days after Brian Laundrie returned to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida. He vanished soon after, igniting a weekslong manhunt that ended with the discovery of his remains in a Florida nature reserve. The latest lawsuit names Christopher and Roberta Laundrie and their attorney, Steven Bertolino, as defendants, claiming the trio’s actions during the search for Petito caused her parents severe emotional distress. What followed was an uncomfortable master class in racism and xenophobia as the man decanted the reasons our country is going down the tubes. I now understand the ugliness I heard was part of a current of Christian nationalism fomenting beneath the surface. And in large part, it’s my faith community, white, rural and conservative, that got them there. As my faith grew, so did Tim’s political career in the Wyoming Legislature (he served in the House from 2008 to 2017). Christian nationalists have hijacked both my Republican Party and my faith community by blurring the lines between church and government and in the process rebranding our state’s identity.

The committee had been planning to hold another hearing on Wednesday but postponed it due to the hurricane approaching Florida. “Nothing provided by the Jan. 6 committee can be considered credible, or unedited or not manipulated," Stone told NBC News Tuesday. The committee has also obtained a trove of Secret Service documents from the period around the Jan. 6 attack. "I think it’s certainly something that will be explored," at the hearing, said the committee member who requested anonymity. “We all swore the same oath to the Constitution,” Cheney told NBC News in a statement, responding to the GOP criticism she’s faced.
In some of these states, whether abortion is legal has changed from week to week. The state’s trigger ban has been blocked and reinstated three times in the course of six weeks. On July 14, a federal judge lifted an injunction on Kentucky’s 15-week abortion ban, allowing it to take effect. But even though abortion remained legal in those states, providers said that patients and medical professionals did not always know what was going on.
This season, they have gone on 28 flight missions for cloud seeding in Wyoming. This photo shows flares fixed on the aircraft's wing that house the silver iodide used for cloud seeding. Weather Modification International 2022Once the pilot flies into the storm, they ignite the cardboard casings full of silver iodide and “seed” the clouds. Their results, published in 2020 in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences, managed to quantify how effective cloud seeding is. The amount of precipitation produced by cloud seeding — up to 10% — isn’t enough at all to quench the drought-stricken West.
